Lunch and Learn in Surrey
Are you an employer in Surrey that wants to invest in the mental well-being of your staff? You could make a real difference by hosting one of our Lunch and Learn events. These hour-long workshops are designed to help educate people on a variety of topics and provide a safe environment to talk openly about mental health struggles.
Each of our Lunch and Learn for mental health sessions are hosted by a qualified trainer and includes practical advice and tips to positively improve mental-wellbeing. These online-based programmes help staff understand common triggers of stress and ways to spot signs and symptoms of mental difficulties.
Why should you host a lunch and learn?
There are many benefits to hosting a Lunch and Learn event at your workplace. Mental health still carries a stigma, which can be especially felt in the workplace. It is not uncommon for people to keep their struggles to themselves, often through fear of being judged or passed over for career progression. However, attitudes are changing and as a company, you can help your staff feel supported and understood.
We offer different packages, from a one-off session to a block of 6. Learning lunches also provide an opportunity to follow up with the trainer about the issues covered.
Lunch and Learn Topics to Choose From
You can tailor the sessions to suit the needs of your staff. We cover common topics such as anxiety and depression. Being workplace-based, we also discuss at length the impact of stress and how to manage it. This provides workers with opportunities to suggest ways their line manager can improve their working environment.
How to Promote Good Mental Health at Work
There are several ways for companies to promote mental-wellbeing at work:
- Encourage staff to take regular breaks, particularly a lunch hour away from their desk. It is proven that regular breaks help prevent burnout and aid productivity in the long term.
- Have strong policies in place to prevent any forms of harassment. Bullying is not confined to the school playground so be mindful if an individual is experiencing any form of harassment and create an environment that fosters mutual respect and understanding.
- Have fun! Group activities can help colleagues connect outside of their day-to-day roles and can have a positive effect on mental well-being.
- Check in with your staff regularly to ask how they are and how they feel they are managing their workload.
