The Lucy Rayner Foundation is honored to have been chosen as a charity partner for this year’s spectacular Run Reigate event which takes place on Sunday, September 18. Made up of 25+ runners, our red-jersey wearing team will be hitting the Surrey streets to raise much-needed awareness of the charity’s #runoffdepression campaign.
Physical activity is known not just to improve your physical wellbeing but is also a key factor in caring for your mental health too which is why Run Reigate is the perfect platform from which to highlight the work of our local charity.
Amy King, Trustee of The Lucy Rayner Foundation is part of the LRF team. After taking up running as a means of boosting her mental and physical health, Amy is thrilled to be putting her best foot forward in order to support such a good cause.
She says: ‘I’m running the Reigate Half Marathon 2021 for The Lucy Rayner Foundation, because personally running has really helped my mental health over the last year especially it’s been my release and helped me push through barriers, I did not think I could do and has helped me regain my confidence.
‘I really want to show people if you put your mind to it, you can complete the hardest of challenges and for me running is a challenge which I have been able to build on alongside my mental health. I want to also help raise awareness about mental health and to just talk to people along the route about their feelings and about The Lucy Rayner Foundation, how our services can support not only those who are suffering but those around them too.’
The Lucy Rayner Foundation aims to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of depression and mental health challenges, especially in young adults, and to facilitate change in the way mental health is being perceived by society.
If you would like to run for our charity 5k, 10k, half a marathon or come along or volunteer for the event please get in touch with Emma.
